John Shaterian

John is an active licensed real estate agent in the state of Illinois and a leader in identifying and promoting the rapidly emerging green home market both in Chicago and nationwide. He is a founding member of the Sustainable Real Estate Alliance, authors of the changes to the Chicagoland MLS which allows for market differentiation for green properties. As a Green Designee and member of the Green RESource Council’s  Green Advisory Board, he is helping to shape the National Association of Realtor’s Green Designation. This professional designation is for Realtors© who are trained in the understanding of what makes a property green, helping clients evaluate the cost/benefits of green building features and practices, and comprehensive knowledge of industry rating and classification systems. It also includes the listing and marketing of green homes and buildings, knowledge of the financial grants and incentives available to homeowners, and helping consumers see a property’s green potential.

John has over 6 years of experience in both the residential and commercial construction industry. He has worked as the Director of Management Administration with a midsize commercial general contractor. Some of the projects he has worked on include the first LEED candidate building for the City of Chicago Public Library, the 4th Floor renovation of Chicago’s City Hall, multiple big box grocery stores, as well as other ground-up and major renovation projects. He has also served as the Director of Operations for a residential general contractor specializing in green construction.

As a LEED AP, John has acquired the coveted United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) professional accreditation designation, which is an indication of his depth of knowledge and practical understanding of LEED rating systems and best practices. He is a member of the USGBC Illinois Chapter and a participant in the Residential Green Building Committee.

John is also involved with the Chicago Association of Realtors Government Affairs Committee and is also an Advocate for the USGBC Illinois Chapter.

Sarah Coulter

Sarah has been an active licensed real estate agent in the state of Illinois for the past 8 years. She is a recognized leader in identifying and promoting the rapidly emerging green home market both in Chicago and nationwide. She is a founding member of Sustainable Real Estate Alliance, authors of the changes to the Chicagoland MLS which allows for market differentiation for green properties. As an EcoBroker and a LEED AP she is adept at understanding the intricacies of green building principals.

Sarah was first exposed to real estate through her parents both of whom are Realtors. Sarah’s real estate business approach is that of a consultant the couples her background in education and social service. She has a passion for helping consumers navigate and fully comprehend the green real estate market.

While studying interior design at Harrington College Sarah became involved with the U.S. Green Building Council Illinois Chapter emerging green builders committee. She is a member of the Residential Green Building Committee as well as a featured speaker for potential USGBC members and homebuilders regarding real estate related matters. Sarah is also an Advocate for the USGBC Illinois Chapter.

Sarah is a founding member of Sustainable Real Estate Alliance, authors of the changes to the Chicagoland MLS which allows for market differentiation for green properties. Sarah is also the lead consultant in charge of “greening @properties”, helping to position the largest independent real estate brokerage in Chicago a more progressive, and easily adaptable company ready to be a leader in the green real estate market.
